What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
You deserve a great smile. Cosmetic dentistry is restoring your smile to its former beauty or giving you the one you've always wanted. We can help by fixing any dental imperfections with a variety of procedures. Our solutions - crowns, veneers, bonding and teeth whitening - give you natural, flawless looking teeth, leaving you wanting to smile all the time.
When you crack or break a tooth, its strength is compromised. The break could potentially worsen, going down into the pulp or the nerve, which could then lead to an infection. A crown can fix a cracked or broken tooth, restoring its strength.
Our crowns are made of ceramic, and match the color of your natural teeth. They cap the damaged tooth, holding it together, increasing its strength and preventing further harm. First, the tooth is filed down to create room for the crown to fit over it. An impression is taken and the crown created. It is then cemented in place over the damaged tooth. In our office, we use Cerec technology, which allows you to have the entire procedure in only one day instead of two.
Veneers are another solution to cracked or broken teeth, except they fix imperfections on the front teeth. They can even be used to cover gaps between your natural teeth or level uneven teeth. These thin, porcelain coverings are cemented over the damaged tooth and color match the rest of your teeth.
Made of a composite resin that can be shaped as needed, bonding can be used to fix a variety of imperfections. It can be used to hold together cracked teeth, fill in gaps between teeth or turn a misshapen tooth into a one that looks normal. The bonding material matches the color of your natural teeth.
While your enamel is strong, it is not immune to stains. There are a variety of things that can cause stains - coffee, tea, red wine, dark berries, smoking. These stains may be lessened by brushing, but deep stains require professional help.
At our office, we will provide you with trays, so that you can whiten your teeth at home. First, we will take impressions of your teeth so that we can create customized trays. On your second visit, we will make sure they fit and provide you with the information you need to know about how to use them properly.
While teeth whitening restores your smile to a luminous white color, the treatment is not permanent. It is important to limit, or avoid all together, any foods, beverages and smoking (if you are a smoker) during and after treatment for the longest lasting results.
