The Expense of Not Going to the Dentist on a Regular Basis

Posted on 4/17/2017 by Office Manager
A woman suffering from mouth pain.
When you go to the dentist every six months, they are able to see changes as they occur in your mouth. Most cavities, diseases, and symptoms do not show up overnight. They take some time to develop.

This is what allows the dentist to notice the changes and take care of the problem while it is still in its early stages.

If you neglect this visit twice per year, the damage can quickly add up. While it takes time to begin, it doesn't take as long to spread.

Dentists Can Restore Health, but They Can't Do It If You Don't Come In

Tooth decay is what causes cavities. It takes a bit of time for a cavity to form. However, once a cavity starts, if it is left unattended, it can quickly take over an entire tooth.

The cavity can cause the tooth to rot, and it can also spread to surrounding teeth. This can damage the gums, and it can even cause an infection which can spread around to your entire body.

Neglecting your teeth is an expensive mistake. It is easier and much less expensive to keep up with issues that arise. It is much more difficult to fix a tooth that is completely rotten. Instead of paying for a cavity to be filled, you are now paying for a root canal and a crown, or to have a tooth extracted and an implant to be put in its place.

If you want to save money, go in and see your dentist every six months. It will save you a lot of money now, and down the line. A small investment made will still save you more as time goes on. If it's been a while since you went to the dentist, don't wait any longer. Each day, the expense rises.
