Why Should I Get Dental Veneers?

Diagram of a dental veneer being placed on a tooth used by Anchorage dentist at Spalding Dental.Your smile is the first thing that others notice about you. Moreover, when you smile, one of the first things that people see are your teeth. The teeth are a major contributing factor in the quality of your smile. Any imperfections, even seemingly minor ones, can have a major impact on your smile and can affect the impressions that you leave. At Spalding Dental, we can help to greatly improve the quality of your smile, allowing you to leave the impressions you want to leave, with dental veneers.

What are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are a cosmetic treatment designed to fix the appearance of minor flaws in your teeth. They are small, thin shell-like structures that are made to cover over the front surfaces of your visible teeth, effectively covering over the flaws in your teeth and restoring or enhancing the beauty of your smile. Veneers can completely transform the appearance of your smile, leaving you with feeling much more confident.

What Can Dental Veneers Fix?

Dental veneers can treat a wide array of different flaws in your teeth, including flaws such as
•  Small chips or cracks in your enamel.
•  Gaps between your teeth.
•  Minor overlapping of your front teeth.
•  Teeth that are small or misshapen.
•  Tooth discoloration.

What are Dental Veneers Made From?

Veneers are typically made from either composite resin or porcelain. Both materials are tooth-colored, providing a beautiful restoration to your smile. While composite resin is more affordable, porcelain is often the material of choice. Porcelain provides a much more natural appearance, reflecting light just like natural tooth enamel in addition to being able to be stained just like the color of your natural teeth. Porcelain is also stronger and has a longer lifespan. Where composite resin veneers can last 7 to 10 years, porcelain veneers can last 15 years or longer.

Placing Your Dental Veneers

The process for placing dental veneers requires two separate appointments. During your first appointment, we first need to prepare the teeth. This process, done under a local anesthetic, involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front surfaces of the teeth, which is essential for ensuring a comfortable, natural fit. After the teeth have been prepared, an impression of your mouth is taken. The impression is sent to our dental lab. Technicians use this impression to design and fabricate your custom veneers. Once they have been completed and sent back, we check them for fit in your mouth and bond them into place on the teeth. You leave the office with an enhanced smile. Moreover, best of all, no one will be able to tell the difference between your veneers and your natural teeth.

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Dental veneers provide several benefits.
•  Veneers are biocompatible. Both composite resin and porcelain will not irritate your gum tissue.
•  They blend in beautifully with the rest of your surrounding teeth, providing a completely natural result.
•  With veneers, we can help to restore, or enhance, the beauty of your smile. In the process, we can also help to boost your confidence.

With dental veneers, we can transform your smile, enhancing its beauty and improving your confidence. Call Spalding Dental at (907) 276-7366 for more information and to schedule your consultation today.
